What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is oftentimes translated to "self-knowledge" or the “science of life”. It’s the study of the human body, emotions, and mind, and how the parts of this human experience interact with our environment/ecology. It’s how we relate and design and navigate the other 23 hours of the day off of our yoga mats, which is why it’s oftentimes referred to as the “sister science of yoga”.
Ayurveda offers a gateway into a deeper understanding of:
how nature expresses itself through your body and how your body works
how being in a relationship with your senses can bring you to balance or imbalance
how to support your daily energy & restful sleep
how to be in a relationship with the dynamics of your nervous system
essentially how to thrive and live an embodied existence
Given Ayurveda is the invitation for yoga off the mat, how might you cultivate your practice in this way?
