Be the Archer
When it comes to the practice of meditation, aim to be the archer.
See, meditation is drawing the bow back. We draw back the bow to orient its trajectory.
In meditation, we turn our awareness inward to orient our life’s trajectory.
That drawing back manifests in many ways...
- It’s in the consistency of sitting with ourselves day after day and embracing both the light and the dark and the rainbow of sensations that surface and present themselves.
- It’s being comfortable waiting.
- It’s being ok with nothing and everything happening at the same time.
- It’s finding comfort amidst discomfort.
- It’s zooming out on a situation (pulling the bow back), which is not always an easy act.
It takes strength, precision, and patience – ask any archer.
That's why it requires practice.
When we take the time to pull the bow back, we build strength, patience, and precision... and we orient our life’s trajectory to our deepest and most authentic truth. And then we let go and trust that our practice will serve us.
And the next day we do the same.
Each day we re-orient as needed so that we keep ending up in the vicinity of our goals.
So, what might you be aiming for?
Let us know, we'd love to hear...
Love,
Rachel
